ASSIGNED RISK POLICY

State law requires most employers to carry workers’ compensation insurance for their employees.  If the employer is unable to obtain workers’ compensation insurance from the voluntary market (traditional insurance companies) they may be eligible for a state sponsored workers’ compensation insurance program. These state sponsored programs are referred to as Assigned Risk Plans.  We contract with individual states to service policies and claims in their Assigned Risk Plan.  

It is hoped that employers in the Assigned Risk Plan will eventually return to the voluntary insurance market. To this end, we work with employers to help improve their loss ratios, with injured workers to ensure they receive cost-effective care, and with insurance agents to find the best options for their clients seeking to return to the voluntary workers’ compensation insurance marketplace.
